CA Articleship Registration

CA Articleship is a mandatory practical training of 3 years in Chartered Accountancy Course. It gives practical exposure to the works carried out in the CA profession.

After passing group 1 CA Intermediate or taking admission into CA through Direct Entry System, you would be eligible to pursue.

First find a suitable CA firm big, medium, or small according to your areas of work interest and future goals. In a CA firm, whether it is a proprietorship firm or partnership, or LLP, you have to work under a qualified CA who is called a Principal. He is responsible to train the Articles working under him.

Mandatory requirements before commencement of Articleship

If you are from CA Foundation Route then you can commence your Articleship only after passing either or both groups of CA Intermediate exams and then completing four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS)

If you are a student from the Direct Entry Scheme coming through the Graduation or Post-Graduation route, then you can start Articleship immediately after registration in the Intermediate Course and completion of Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS).

CA Articleship Registration Forms

Before understanding the Articleship registration process, lets know about the important forms for CA Articleship:

Form 102: It is known as the “Deed of Articles”. Its the main contract between the Principal and you. This contract says that you will work under your Principal faithfully and he will provide you opportunities to acquire the necessary skills required in the CA profession. If any party to this contract does not fulfill obligations under the terms of Form 102, it will be considered a breach of contract.

Form 103: This is the form for registration. You have to indicate under which scheme (CA Foundation Route or Direct Entry Scheme) you are going to register. Other details like name, date of birth, educational qualifications, address, etc are also required to be filled there. Your principal is also required to fill the relevant section of the firm.

Form 112: If the articled assistant wants to pursue any other educational course like B.Com, M.Com, etc he needs to obtain prior permission from the ICAI at the time of Articleship registration. For obtaining permission from the Institute, an articled / audit assistant is required to submit an application in Form 112 duly complete in all respects and recommended by the Employer and the College Authorities, if the course is a regular one. The Certificate in Form No. 112 indicating college timings etc. shall be counter-signed by the concerned Principal of the college with the seal and stamp of the College and also indicating the telephone number/s and full address of the College.

How to do CA Articleship Registration online?

CA Articleship registration can be online through the ICAI SSP portal for students.

As a user, you need to log in using the following URL: https://eservices.icai.org/. The user ID and password are shared separately with you over email and SMS.

Steps:

Go to the SSP portal
Enter user ID and Password
Click on the login button, you will get the below screen:
Now click on the Articleship Menu button > Articleship tab> Articleship deed form the Articleship deed will appear
Select and click on Articleship Deed Form (102) icon to fill
Select the date of commencement
Enter membership No. of the Member/Principal under whom you will do Articleship
Click on the Get Details button.
Select the firm
Select the date of the deed
Submit.
Download the PDF of the out deed.
Now you have to execute the deed PDF downloaded on a non-judicial stamp paper and then scan it.
If you have logged out then log in again > Go to Submitted Applications > Click on the Articleship deed form icon > Click on the “Eye” button > Click on “click here” to edit the application and fill the registration form
Now check your personal details displayed on the screen. If any modification is needed then go to the Profile Change Form to make the such modification
Fill in the other mandatory details > Click on the Next button
Check your qualification details, if any modification is needed then go to the Profile Change Form to make such modification > Click on the Next button
Check and verify CA course details, if any modification is needed then go to the Profile Change Form to make such modification > Click on the Next button
Check and verify Articleship details displayed about the previous Articleship > Click on the Next button
You will choose “Yes” or “No” for the options “Whether the articled assistant/audit clerk is actively engaged in any other business or occupation during the Articleship period?”, “Whether the articled assistant/audit clerk has taken up any other course of study – academic or professional?” If your selection is “Yes”, you will be required to fill Form 112 using the Other Forms tab before the final submission of the Registration Form.
Click on the Next button
Verify the Member Details displayed on the screen. Select “I Agree”
Click on Submit button.

After completion of your part, you should inform the member under whom you are going to do the Articleship. He will log in with his credentials through the SSP portal and verify the details submitted by you. If he will find the details correct then approve the registration form. He can view the details under the “Forms for Approval “tab under the Articleship/Auditship Module.

After Members approval you have to download the PDF of Form 102 (Articleship Deed) and 103 (Registration Form), print it, and get it signed by the Member. After that you have to scant and upload the scanned copy by following these steps:

Login at the SSP portal
Go to the Submitted Applications tab
Click next on all the screens and go to the last screen
upload the signed and scanned copy of Form 102 and Registration Form 103
Click on Submit button and pay the registration fee, if applicable
