The first thing is to start your preparation as early as possible without wasting any time and energy on anything that doesn't relate to your dream journey of becoming a Qualified CMA.
Create a practical Study planner that covers the proper time per the difficulty level of each topic and how much practice a topic requires as per its weightage in the exams. With a study planner, you will feel safe due to the vast syllabus. Your Study planner must cover the appropriate breaks and space if any topic takes longer. Also, keep some time to revise previously studied topics again.
Allot time as per the weightage and importance of the topic; time allocation depends on your learning capability, your interest in the topic, and your understanding of different topics, so it would be better to design your schedule by yourself instead of copying someone else schedule because no one knows the level of understanding better than you. It is OK to take a rough idea for reference. Preparing a schedule is not time-wasting. Instead, it's an investment, and most students complain that they cannot study as per the schedule and miss the targets. It's OK if you miss the targets, and you will be in better condition if you can complete 40-50% of the work as per the schedule. Mostly, toppers only achieved 55 to 62% of the targets.
You must be aware of the high-priority areas, and 80% of your efforts should be diverted toward this area. Revise this high-priority important topic twice or thrice before the exams. Although the papers are now set from other places, you should also pay attention to those. That will help maximize your chance of scoring good exam marks. Distribute your time between reading the concepts, understanding the application of the concepts, and practicing the same concepts is essential. New concepts need time; the amount of time you will spend starting to understand the idea profoundly will directly impact the retention of the same concepts.
You should study actively; there is no logic in learning for more extended hours, but you need to be able to revise the concepts actively. It would help if you worked out the hours based on effectiveness, took short breaks in between, and concentrated totally during the study hours. You can use various techniques to make your study hours more effective and active, like making short notes, which will be very helpful in revision before the exams, creating mnemonics or mind maps to remember the concepts for long, written practice without checking the answer.
There is no alternative to good practice in the CMA Inter exams. Practical subjects require a lot of practice; you need more than just auditing the questions. You will face many problems in the exam hall because when you audit the answer, your approach becomes different compared to when solving the same question with your hands on the notebook. For the correct approach, practice many questions; you should practice institute textbook questions, past year institute papers, and mock tests to evaluate your performance promptly. In some theoretical subjects, you must write similar points or keywords to score good marks. You can use mnemonics or short words to remember the overall points covered in the answer.
