In this example, the student passed this group since the total of the marks earned on all of the papers in this group equals 225 and the average of the marks received on each paper is at least 40%.

Now, if you attempted both groups, they would have passed both because the aggregate of all papers is 401, which is greater than 50%, and the aggregate of each paper is at least 40%.

Example 2:

Group 1 -

Paper 1 - 60

Paper 2 - 51

Paper 3 - 42

Paper 4 - 53

In this case, The student will pass the group because the aggregate of all the papers in this group is 206, which is larger than 50%; additionally, the student will pass the group because the aggregate of all the papers in this group is greater than 40%.

Group 2 -

Paper 5 - 48

Paper 6 - 51

Paper 7 - 44

Paper 8 - 51

In this case, the student failed this group because the aggregate of all the papers in this group taken together = 194 which is less than 50%

However, if you attempted both groups, they would have passed both because the aggregate of all papers equals 400, which is exactly 50%, and each papers total is at least 40%.

In the second example, It would be terrible if they attempted the group alone, as you would likely fail the group 2 papers. However, if you attended both groups, you would have passed both.
